Process -8: Client approval
The work-feedback-rework step is repeated at various stages in the project. This is a very important stage because it focuses the client’s mind on the real needs and objectives and how best to achieve them. Nothing is more powerful than visual aides to enable the client to understand what is being proposed and what is going to work best for the business. Besides preparing the content, this confirmation process is also one of the main responsibilities of the client. It is time consuming and it can be a delicate process. Good clients take advice when good advice is given but equally, they have no fear of instigating passionate discussion about changes. We cannot emphasise strongly enough, the importance of investing time and getting it right at this stage. Once the designs have been approved and coded, unlike the textual content, it will be a very expensive process to make additional changes as this will usually require additional or, in extreme cases, total re-coding.
