Installation and Setup Instructions for the Simple Limited Title Ticker with Images Plugin

This plugin allows you to display a rolling ticker with post images and titles from a specified category on your WordPress site.

Step 1: Download the Plugin ZIP File

Make sure you have the plugin ZIP file, named simple-limited-title-ticker.zip. Save it on your computer where you can easily locate it.

Step 2: Log in to Your WordPress Dashboard

1. Open your WordPress dashboard by going to yourwebsite.com/wp-admin.
2. Log in using your WordPress username and password.

Step 3: Install the Plugin

1. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
2. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page.
3. Click Choose File, and select the simple-limited-title-ticker.zip file.
4. Click Install Now to begin the installation.
5. Once the installation completes, click Activate Plugin.

Step 4: Add Featured Images to Your Posts (if needed)

To display images in the ticker, each post must have a Featured Image. Here’s how to add one if you haven’t already:

1. Go to Posts > All Posts and select the post you want to edit.
2. In the post editor, locate the Featured Image section in the sidebar.
3. Click Set Featured Image and choose an image from your media library or upload a new one.
4. Update or publish the post to save the featured image.

Step 5: Add the Ticker Shortcode to Your Page or Post

To display the ticker, use a shortcode on the page or post where you want it to appear:

1. Go to the page, post, or template where you’d like the ticker to show up.

   • limit: Controls the maximum number of characters for each post title. For example, limit="100" will display up to 100 characters per title.
   • category: Specifies the category slug for the posts you want in the ticker. By default, this is set to "ticker". You can change this to any other category slug you need.

Step 6: Customize the Category and Title Length (Optional)

• To display posts from a different category: Assign your posts to the category you specified in the shortcode. You can create a new category in Posts > Categories if needed.
• To adjust the character limit: Change the limit value in the shortcode to fit your desired length (e.g., limit="50" for shorter titles).

Step 7: Save and View the Ticker

Once the shortcode is added, save or update your page or post and view your site to see the rolling ticker with images and titles!

Troubleshooting Tips

• Ticker not rolling: Make sure the plugin is activated in Plugins > Installed Plugins. If the ticker doesn’t appear to scroll, try clearing your browser cache and refreshing the page.
• No posts found: Ensure there are posts in the specified category, each with a featured image if desired.
• Images not displaying: Double-check that each post has a featured image set in the Featured Image section of the post editor.
